Ci Yuan CC YEC was established in 1999 and has grown by leaps and bounds, augmenting to 500 youths under our circle today as compared to just 10 at the very start.
We constantly strive to organise new programmes to blend community service, environmental awareness, active citizenry and sports among youth and the community. This is in the hope of building wellness, ownership and pride in the community we live in. Some of our activities included the Youth Olympics @ Northlight School event and the Aljunied-Hougang Swimming Carnival.
We have also envisioned and carried out activities to support and spread awareness of environmental sustainability and protection. This vision led to a series of events that have been organised since 2006, including the Aljunied-Hougang Environmental Outreach Programme and the National Youth Envirolympic Challenge 2008. Because of these activities, more people are now aware of the impact of climate change and the ways in which they can help to protect the environment.
In this economic downturn, our members have not forgotten their part to help needy residents in the constituency. We have collaborated with Xinmin Secondary School to provide spring-cleaning and painting services for families in need and have also organised several visits to provide single elderly residents with companionship and assistance.
